When we decided to sell Peruvian Magnar's full brother MFI Peruvian Monsanto in the 2004 Breeder's Choice Auction, it was a very difficult decision indeed. We really wanted to keep Monsanto for our breeding program as a future replacement for his sire, DPA Quetzal, the fawn son of the fawn full-Accoyo Timoteo. Monsanto sold to a partnership of two farms, BelleauWood Farms and Blue Ridge Alpacas, for $125,000.
We never kid ourselves that we can create another because we find that the female we are counting on produces girls the rest of her breeding career! However, in this case, we were lucky and celebrated the arrival of Monsanto's stunning fawn full brother, MFI Peruvian Magnar! With an elite, bundling fleece with its high frequency, high amplitude crimp style, Magnar has already taken his rightful place on our Herdsire Row. His first crias are arriving now and they are stunning... in colors reflecting the dams ranging from beige to black! |
